Giving flowers has been a tradition that has been in effect longer that can be recalled; no one actually can say when the tradition began or where it originated from, but everyone knows about giving and receiving flowers. Sending flowers is a very simple gesture, but is rich with a lot of meaning; that's why they are present in nearly every occasion because, with them, you will never go wrong.
Traditional poinsettias characterize every household during the Christmas season. Actually, they are probably the most popular kinds at this time. They can be displayed by themselves, or combined with other kinds of varieties or arrangements, such as flower fairies oval plates and Christmas wreaths. A Christmas holly is also one of the season's staples. And because there are really no limits as to how Christmas flowers are arranged and presented, designing our homes with them is always a creatively heartwarming act.
For Valentines there is always the special Red Rose, which women particularly love to receive; Carnations are also a favorite for this occasion. During Easter time, aside from brightly colored Easter eggs, chocolates, and cutesy bunnies, flowers and gifts are also very common.
Flowers have been used to send secret notes of love and affection since the romantic period. For a secret love, acacias are normally given; violets represent dedication; for sadness, there's hyacynths, for sincerity gladioli, faith and friendship irises, for gentle beauty the tropical hibiscus, and for success poppies, among several.
You don't really need an occasion to give and receive flowers because they are always a joy. Choose flowers based on your color choices, your style, choose them for their fragrances or their long life after being placed in many different types of flower arrangements. Or buy some potted flowers and keep them around for years and years. You can give flowers on birthdays, on holidays, on independence day, on new years day, on Thursdays, on Tuesdays, when visiting your mother, your sister, even your husband or brother would be surprised and while not outwardly delighted will feel special to receive a pretty bouquet.
